Founder & Origin

ALEWK.CLUB was founded by Peter Barbe and shaped by two places that continue to influence how the brand thinks and operates: the Seychelles and Brighton & Hove.

Growing up in the Seychelles meant being surrounded by island life, ocean culture, and a close relationship with nature from an early age. The sea wasn’t somewhere to visit. It was part of everyday life. That connection travelled with Peter to the UK and quietly shaped how he thinks about materials, longevity, and the impact everyday choices can have.

Now based in Brighton & Hove, life by the coast still plays a role. Time spent in and around the water, early mornings along the seafront, and the changing rhythms of the sea all influence the way ALEWK approaches sustainability, not as a fixed idea, but as something practical, ongoing, and grounded in real life.

Everyday coastal routines

Now based in Brighton & Hove, ALEWK grew out of everyday coastal life. Early morning cycles along the seafront, wild swims at sunrise, and time spent in and around the water are part of the rhythm that shaped the brand. Living by the coast brings a constant awareness of environment and impact, and of how closely daily habits connect to the places we live.

ALEWK.CLUB was created to bring that coastal perspective into shopping. Not as a statement of perfection, but as a practical response to how complicated “sustainable” choices can feel. Rather than trying to offer everything, the focus is on bringing together brands that are open about what they do, how they make their products, and where they are still learning and improving.

There’s no claim to having all the answers.
